How can you become more active?

If you are going to keep it up, find ways of being active that you enjoy and that fit in with your daily life. Keep a record of how active you are at the moment. Some ways that other people have found useful to increase their daily activity are:

Walking

  • to the shops
  • to collect the children from school
  • taking a longer route to work
  • parking the car further from the office
  • fitting in a walk at lunchtime or in the evening

At Home

  • Cleaning, polishing, dusting
  • Not using the remote control -get up and move around during the adverts!
  • Climbing the stairs more often
  • Gardening

At Work

  • Use the stairs instead of the lift
  • Take regular breaks from your desk
  • Take a walk at lunchtime

Think of ways of being more active that appeal to you.
