Stock up your kitchen

Having the right foods at home makes planning meals and keeping to your goals so much easier. Here’s some ideas for great fridge and store cupboard basics. Why not clear out all the foods that were part of your old lifestyle while you’re stocking up! 

The Fridge & Freezer

  • Skimmed or semi-skimmed milk
  • Low fat natural and fruit yoghurt
  • Olive or rapeseed oil-based spread
  • Eggs - standard or omega-3 enriched
  • Parmesan, feta and/or other strong tasting cheese
  • Low fat/light cream cheese
  • Fresh fruit and vegetables and herbs
  • Low fat salad dressings
  • Fresh or frozen lean meat, chicken or fish
  • Frozen vegetables
  • Low fat ready meals – for emergencies
  • Frozen berries
  • Low fat ice cream or sorbet

The Store Cupboard  

  • Canned beans and chick peas
  • Canned tomatoes, sweet corn, reduced fat coconut milk
  • Canned fish
  • Canned fruit in juice
  • Pasta and egg noodles
  • Lentils, Basmati rice, bulgur, couscous
  • Nuts, seeds and dried fruit
  • Low calorie sweeteners as an alternative to sugar
  • Dried herbs and spices
  • Olive, rapeseed, peanut and sesame oils
  • Different vinegars
  • Soy, chilli sauce and fish sauce, horseradish, mustard, olives, capers
