The awards are designed to recognise excellence in weight management and to give a platform to the projects so that others may learn from their experiences. To this end we invited last years overall winner Helen Pittson of the Y W8? Project to update the conference on what winning the award meant. She explained that the recognition had generated considerable media attention but more importantly had ensured that that their project was now securely funded and this security had allowed them to develop the project further and widen access, allowing more families to benefit from their support.
This year winners were:
In the Physical Activity category Jill Cooper and her team from Get Active and Weight No More. A partnership project between Wear Valley District Council Leisure Services and South Durham and Darlington Nutrition and Dietetic Service. Email:-
