Independent Nurse Consultant
Jane is an Independent Nurse Consultant who specialises in Obesity and Men’s Health in Primary Care.
She works at the cutting edge of innovation and has had much national and local press coverage and appeared on many TV and radio shows talking about her outreach work with men and obesity.
She has run obesity clinics and men’s health surgeries in many unusual places with interesting audit results and has worked with the MOD the DOH and many PCTs in Britain looking at ways of improving services for men. She also runs an accredited obesity training course for health care professionals.
Jane speaks to Nurses, Doctors and other health care professionals throughout England and has also worked in Europe and the Far East.
She is a director of the National Obesity Forum and Vice President, vice chair and a trustee of the Men’s Health Forum a charity and leading voice in men’s health in Britain.
Jane is recognised as a leading expert in her field and has written many published articles and chapters on the subject.
She has also appeared on TV many times discussing obesity and men’s health and has recently been seen as the nutritionalist in Fat Chance on ITV which ran every week day for a month in October.
Jane trained as an SRN in Jersey in 1974 later training as a Midwife and Health Visitor in the West Midlands. She also worked as a School Nurse, Public Health Nurse and Practice nurse. In 1992 she completed a BA (Hons) in English and German business studies and subsequently worked as Primary Care Editor at the Nursing Times.
