Welcome to the National Obesity Forum

1 in 5 adaults are obeseThe NOF was established in May 2000 to raise awareness of the growing impact of obesity and being overweight on our patients and our National Health Service.  Membership is open to all healthcare professionals and is free.

We believe that the increasing numbers of obese individuals and the impact this has on peoples' health- particularly type two diabetes, heart disease and reduced life expectancy - demands that healthcare professionals prioritise the way in which weight management is delivered.

We are particularly concerned with the lack of focus on prevention and structured management of overweight and obese individuals in primary care and the effect this has on society. Obesity, as a disease, is an issue which affects not just the health service but has a knock-on effect for the economy, industry, education and government.
